I have come across some interesting cases using Nutrition Response Testing® in my chiropractic practice. Here are a few that I would like to share with you.

A woman, who was in her 50’s came in to see me who was 5 feet tall and weighed 360 pounds. Every joint in her body hurt. She jiggled when she walked. She was drinking a 12 pack of Diet Mountain Dew every day, which is not good especially the formaldehyde and aspartame ingredients.

I began by slowly addressing what she was eating. I wanted to stay within her reality and was able to convince her to stop drinking ¼ of 1 bottle Diet Mountain Dew a day. That means that instead of drinking 12 bottles a day, she was drinking 11 and ¾.

I also put her on a digestive enzyme because I knew I had to go slow with her. She was developing rheumatoid arthritis because of her condition. She suffered from joint and muscle pain all over. She could hardly walk or even sit because of her back. She could hardly get off my exam table because of pain.

After I convinced her to drink ¼ bottle less, she came back a week later and had lost 7 pounds just by drinking ¼ bottle less. So over a period of time, she believed me. She finally said, “Maybe I should go faster.” I had to caution her, “Ok, we are going to go faster but we have to stay within your body’s ability to go faster and not have severe withdrawal.” It took us about 6 months just to get her off that 12 pack a day. She went from 360 pounds to approximately 260 pounds.

Another case was a staff member that had been on insulin for 20 years. He had lost the feeling in both legs from the knees down. It’s called Diabetic Neuropathy. He had developed ulcers, lost a couple of toenails and his legs were always purplish. Just 90 days after we started him on his program, he said, “I can feel my feet!”.

Ninety days after regaining the feeling in his feet, his doctor reduced his insulin doses. After 6 months, he went to his doctor and his doctor said that he didn’t know what was going on, but he needed to be taken off his insulin pump because it was giving him too much insulin.

I have noticed an increase of people developing type II diabetes. There are 2-year-olds now being diagnosed with type II diabetes. There is research indicating that nobody is ever genetically diabetic. Diabetes is a 100% do it to yourself project. As a population, we are ingesting too much sugar and refined carbohydrates. It has been pushed on us since the latter part of the 1800s. We need to continue to help the population with Nutrition Response Testing to reverse this trend.

As a Chiropractor who utilizes Nutrition Response Testing®, I have had several diabetic patients that have been helped immensely.

I am currently working with a 41-year-old woman with uncontrolled high blood sugar. It ranged between 152-298 with her diabetes medication!

During my examination I found several of what we call, in Nutrition Response Testing, “stressors” in her body. The term “stressors” refers to obstacles to healing. If a body has obstacles to healing, it cannot get well until you remove the obstacles. One of the stressors found during my evaluation was toxic chemicals.

I put her on whole food supplements to handle what came up which included some pituitary support. What does the pituitary have to do with her blood sugar? There could be a “medical” issue that was not caught by conventional medicine, or it could just be what we say in Nutrition Response Testing, “Anything can cause anything.” We follow the innate intelligence of the body and see where it leads. This patient’s body indicated her pituitary was the priority area that needed to be addressed first.

Patients with blood sugar issues are often addicted to sugar and have eaten far too much sugar and refined grains over the course of their lives. This was the case for this patient. A major part of our job is to help them to wean off these toxic foods. We helped her clean up her diet and her blood sugar dropped down to 134-173 in just 4 weeks on a Nutrition Response Testing program.

Now, that was still too high, but it was a significant improvement.  Over the next few weeks her blood sugar fluctuated.  It would drop down nicely and then would shift back up.  After a careful follow up examination, I found one tiny spot on her pancreas that was showing up as a problem.  On that spot, I found soy as the “stressor.”

I asked her if she was eating any soy.  I didn’t think she was because she knew soy wasn’t good for her.  She said, “Of course not.” I then asked her what kind of chicken and eggs she was eating.  She said, “I am eating everything organic.”  I then said, “But, do you know what the chickens are being fed?” She laughed and said, “No. How could I know that?”  And I said, “Well, it’s possible they are being fed soy. There is a source of soy free chicken and eggs I’ll tell you about and I think we really need to switch you over to that.”  While we did that, I got her on a digestive enzyme to help clean the soy out and lo and behold, within a week her blood sugar went down to normal.  It was like magic! It was amazing!  I couldn’t even believe it.  

She had several other problems as well. She was very overweight, had high blood pressure and anxiety. I helped her lose 12 pounds and her anxiety disappeared. Her blood pressure is still an issue, but we are moving in the right direction!

Another case I have is a 54-year-old man who was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes by his medical doctor and was prescribed insulin. We helped him improve his diet while having him take some whole food supplements. Within 2 months, he told me his blood sugar was dropping too low and asked me if I thought it could be from the supplements he was taking. I said, “Well, that was the plan, wasn’t it? Your body appears to be functioning better and you may need to reduce your insulin!” I advised him to get in touch with his medical doctor right away. He did, and over the next few weeks his medical doctor reduced his insulin down to none!

I make sure to explain to patients ahead of time that if they are on medication and their blood sugar or blood pressure starts getting too low after starting a Nutrition Response Testing program, that’s a good sign! People are led to believe that when they receive this type of diagnosis that it is a life-long condition that cannot resolve. They are told they will be on these medications for the rest of their life and because all medications have side-effects, they usually end up on more to address the side effects. It becomes a never-ending cycle, but I can tell them with certainty that “There is hope because we know how to help you with this!” Our typical result is the patient fully heals and they no longer have that “diagnosis”!

This is something amazing we can do to help fully restore health. We can take a body that has an issue with blood sugar or a body that cannot control blood pressure or any other “dysfunction” and get the body fully healed.

As a Nutrition Response Testing® practitioner I see a wide variety of patients with many different health issues. Most of the cases I see are ones dealing with digestive problems, the thyroid, the adrenals, the liver, problems detoxing, as well as auto-immune issues.

One extreme case that was helped with Nutrition Response Testing is Phil. Phil is a patient in his mid-50’s that came to see me with congestive heart failure. He was diagnosed with bundle branch block and a blood clot in his heart.

Electrical impulses that cause your heart to beat (contract) originate in the upper right chamber (right atrium) of the heart and travel to the lower chambers (ventricles). In bundle branch block, the pathway that these impulses travel on is delayed or blocked.

This branch block condition runs in his family as well. His oldest brother died from a sudden heart attack and his second oldest brother had heart surgery and still died. His other two brothers almost died from it, and another brother still has major heart issues. His uncles died from heart issues as well.

Phil had a blood clot in his heart and was told, “If you do not get this surgery you will die.” He told his doctors, “No, I don’t want to get the surgery.” He’s married and didn’t want to live the rest of his life in a weakened condition or with an internal defibrillator in his heart.

He had been blacklisted by all the hospitals in his area because he refused to get the surgery. They wouldn’t even let him get a colonoscopy or any kind of medical testing done in the entire city because he decided to take his health into his own hands and “defy” the doctor’s recommendations.

He called my office to set up an appointment because of his heart issues. When he came to see me he said that he was looking for an alternative method to handle his condition. So, he came in and we tested him with Nutrition Response Testing procedures. He was put on a standard protocol and followed his program that called for whole food supplements using Standard Process and MediHerb products.

Within 2 months of him following the protocol and Designed Clinical Nutrition Program we put him on, his diagnosis was reversed. He was no longer burdened by a congestive heart failure diagnosis and did not need surgery. He is doing great! He is going to the gym. He is bench-pressing. He has lost weight, regained his health and has a new lease on life! He went from uncertainty in his health and future, to moving to a beautiful new home with his wife and adopting two puppies. He says we have given him hope!

For me, this is exciting. I see all types of conditions on a daily basis and it is always a joy to see people really get well with a little bit of proper nutrition.

What is amazing about what we do is that it is in real time. It’s what happening with the body right now at that exact moment. With Nutrition Response Testing, you can tell within 30 seconds what is going on with a patient. Blood work is not real time. A patient gets their blood work done and it might take 10 days to get the blood work results back. Well, things have changed by then. It’s not real time and that is not a real time result. A patient can keep going back and getting more blood work done with varying results. Well, this is real time testing down to the cellular level. It’s the only real time test that you can use to get to the cells and know what is going on with the body. It’s just incredible.

With Nutrition Response Testing, you find out what is going on in the tissue, the muscles, the organs, and in the intestinal tract. A condition doesn’t have to show up in the blood for there to be a problem with a patient. Most of the time, I find it’s not. Nutrition Response Testing practitioners are finding it elsewhere and that’s why we get such good results and why I have a large, thriving practice. We get good referrals and good testimonials because IT WORKS! What a privilege it is to fulfill our mission and purpose as healers using Nutrition Response Testing as our tool in helping people reach optimum health, without the use of drugs or surgery!

I have found that utilizing Nutrition Response Testing® in conjunction with chiropractic yields miraculous results that even I am surprised by. Here are two of cases that made a lasting impression on me.

Being a woman, I have a special place in my heart to help other women that may be experiencing fertility issues.

I had a patient who is in her 20s and was married for 3 years when she came to see me. She and her husband had been trying to get pregnant but had no success. Her mother-in- law was a patient of mine and wondered if Nutrition Response Testing could help her daughter-in-law. I was helping the mother-in-law with her diabetes and had good success with the Nutrition Response Testing program I had her on so she referred her daughter-in-law to me for help.

The daughter-in-law told me that she had never had a normal menstrual cycle. She would only have a few per year.

She had gone to her medical doctor and had testing done. She was diagnosed with Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). PCOS is a hormonal disorder common among women of reproductive age. This syndrome causes irregular periods and makes it more difficult to get pregnant, causing infertility. Patients with PCOS tend to be overweight, however in this case she was underweight. Also, her blood test results were not consistent with patients having PCOS. Her doctor, an OBGYN, said, “Oh you have irregular cycles, so it is probably PCOS.” I think her doctor didn’t have anything else to call what she had, so she was labeled as having PCOS.

She came in and upon my examination, the patient tested for chemical toxicity. Since this is what showed up on my examination, I put her on a program to detox the chemicals as well as giving her body ovarian support.

She had her first regular period 2 months after starting the program. Within 3 months of being on the program, she got pregnant. She is pregnant now and is a few months along.

The other case is a woman who was in her early 30s. She had 6 miscarriages before she came to see me. No live births. Her doctors were telling her that she was too old to get pregnant. Like the early 30s is old, right? At that point the doctors start recommending fertility treatments. Her doctors told her that her blood work was normal for the most part. They really didn’t have any answers for her so they just recommended fertility treatments, which she did not want to do.

She was referred to me by another patient of mine who was her friend.

When she came in to see me, my examination revealed that it was also mostly toxins that had to be cleaned up. She also needed thyroid support so I put her on the standard protocols for this type of case.

In the advanced Nutrition Response Testing training, you are typically taught that fertility patients may have had a lot of losses and it is a minimum of about 2 months before they can start trying to get pregnant.

You usually tell a patient to wait 6 months before they can start trying and then give them the green light. For her, we were only about 4 months in, and my re-evaluation showed that she was really stable. I was confident based on her results that she could start trying to get pregnant. She was a super compliant patient which helped and did everything I recommended her to do. Within 4 months I told her to start trying. It took another 2 months before she became pregnant and ended up having a healthy baby boy. Now she is on a maintenance program and her baby is nearly 2 years old. Lastly, she just found out this past November that she is expecting again with her 2nd child on the way.

While utilizing Nutrition Response Testing® along with chiropractic, I have seen some pretty miraculous results. I would like to tell you about one that even shocked me.

This was a case where the patient came into my office with a paralyzed right arm. Her arm had been diagnosed at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinic as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (called ALS), a fancy name for Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

This means that it is a form of multiple sclerosis where it affects one side. We all know the famous ALS case, Stephen Hawking. He just died. He was degenerating and dying his whole life.

When I tested this patient, we discovered what we call in Nutrition Response Testing, a “blocked regulation” condition due to scars.

Blocked regulation means the body doesn’t have the ability to control its nervous system to the point that it won’t accept anything. Blocked regulation means blocked from healing, blocked from functioning.

There are either active scars, which means they are actively causing a problem, or they are not active which means that you’ve got a scar that is just a scar. When you’ve got an active scar, it is not the scar causing the problem. The scar is the evidence there has been a break in the nerve tissue that is now confusing the body.

What’s supposed to happen is that a nerve signal follows a correct path and goes where it’s supposed to go. Now a scar increases the number of nerve fibers in the area as part of the healing process. The nerve fibers are trying to reunite across the gap in the injured area. In a scar the nerve connection formed acts as a capacitor for nerve energy. Capacitors store energy. So the nerve signals come in and instead of continuing on the correct path are stored in the nerve fibers of the scar until it reaches its capacity and discharges.

Unfortunately, with a scar situation it rarely discharges along the correct path. Instead it starts sending signals to the wrong areas of the body. That’s how a scar can mess with the body.

The Nutrition Response Testing Analysis on this patient with the paralyzed arm indicated there was a scar someplace causing blocked regulation. So, I had to find the scar. We looked for scars and we couldn’t find one anywhere.

I asked her if she ever remembered any instances of having a bad cut or the breaking of her skin. All you are looking for is something that broke the surface of the skin. The skin is not the problem, it is how the nerves healed and reconnected in the scar.

Turns out she had a little dinky puncture wound from a 3-week-old kitten on a point right by her nail bed on one finger. She said, “I remember it because it hurt like crazy. It bled for almost a half an hour.” That was it! This was the worst scar I have ever seen that I never saw, because I couldn’t see it when it was found.

We have a protocol where we treat an active scar with either wheat germ oil (because wheat germ oil will help the body reorganize the neurology) or we use what’s called low-level light therapy. The low-level light therapy also does the same thing that the wheat germ oil does, but it does it a little more intensely. I grabbed my device and started shining it on that scar. Within about 10 or 15 seconds she started reacting.

All I had seen was Dr. Ulan on a VHS tape where he said to find the scar and do a 1-minute trial treatment to see if that is going to help the patient.

So, I was doing a 1-minute trial treatment and she reacted. I asked her what was going on, and she goes, “My arm is starting to tingle.” And her arm started working again!

This was just from using the basic Nutrition Response Testing standard protocol.

I have found that utilizing Nutrition Response Testing® along with Chiropractic gets better results with my patients. I would like to share two of these cases, since the results had a profound effect not only for the patients but for their family as well.

I had a young boy that came in to my practice who was in a special preschool.  He was 4 and he was diagnosed with autism.

He was an extremely picky eater.  His mom couldn’t really get him to eat very much and he was on a very limited diet.  

The mother brought him in to see me.  Upon completing an initial examination, I told the mother right away, “I don’t think your child is autistic.  There is something going on with him, but I don’t see it as autism.” He was very bright although he did have some behavioral issues.  

Through Nutrition Response Testing I found that his gall bladder had some nutritional deficiencies.  The protocol called for giving him gall bladder support in the form of whole food supplements.  

I had theorized that maybe he had not been able to absorb fat well because the function of the gall bladder is to secrete bile which assists with the absorption of fat.  I was thinking that maybe if he wasn’t absorbing fat for most of his life it was affecting his brain function because the brain needs fat to function properly.  

So, his body received gall bladder support. I waited a little bit and then put him on some fat supplements and sure enough his behavior changed.  He calmed down quite a bit and shortly after that his mother came in to my practice and told me that the school told her that they did not think he was autistic.  And I said happily, “Told you!”

Another case I am reminded of happened when in 2011, I had a 4-year-old boy come into my practice with a diagnosis of autism. The mom had reported that his behavior changed drastically shortly after he received a series of vaccines at age 2.

One of the most difficult behaviors to deal with was severe hyperactivity. He would run around the room and talk loudly about things that didn’t “make sense.” To me it was clear that he was attempting to communicate but he couldn’t formulate sentences in a way that others could understand.

The Nutrition Response Testing evaluation revealed the need to clean up heavy metals from his body.

I put him on a gentle heavy metal detox program as well as some whole food supplements.

After 6 months the mom called me in a panic because they wanted to take him out of his Special Education class at school. She told me, “They want to kick him out of the Special Ed school that I have him in because he doesn’t qualify anymore.”  She was literally freaking out. She wasn’t ready for it. It happened so quickly.  

That’s the typical story though. We find what we find and address it and then suddenly the child is not qualified for whatever special class they were attending. This has occurred many times over the years that I’ve been doing Nutrition Response Testing.

Although there is certainly a higher incidence of autism that we as practitioners are seeing, we can’t make a broad statement that it is caused by vaccines.  Though it appears to be a contributing factor it is not the only one. But the amazing thing about Nutrition Response Testing is that, whatever is causing an issue, the body will let us know what is needed to handle it. Given the correct handling the body can heal. Solutions can be found. And this way, we are able to offer hope in situations where conventional medicine cannot.

As a chiropractor I always want to get better results for my patients. Utilizing Nutrition Response Testing® along with chiropractic, I have been able to handle some pretty interesting cases. This one is the most dramatic case I ever handled.

I had a receptionist that worked for me. She was 5 feet tall, weighed 360 pounds and was around 30 years old.  She was on statin drugs because her cholesterol was up.  She was on oral insulin because her blood sugar was up. 

She had also developed diabetic neuropathy, so severe that she couldn’t wear socks and she couldn’t put covers on her feet, and so was having a tough time sleeping at night.  And in Iowa, where I was at the time, how are you going to go outside when there is snow on the ground and the temperature outside is 20 degrees?  So, she had men’s oversized boots insulated with rabbit fur or something so she could keep her feet warm, in order to get to the office. She always had a heater under her desk to keep her feet warm. 

She started working for me before I had started doing Nutrition Response Testing, and I had her on a good acupuncture program, and a good chiropractic program. I had an exercise therapist in the office, and we had her on an exercise program. I started her on a nutrition program and the nutrition program helped a little bit in the beginning. I think she lost like 10 or 15 pounds.

Her blood pressure medication couldn’t change because her blood pressure hadn’t changed.   Her statin drugs couldn’t change because her cholesterol was like 600. And she was also on oral insulin. 

At that time Dr. Freddie Ulan had discovered a new product which is now sold by UNS, called Glyc-Aide.  He sent me a sample because I was a part of his research group on that product. So, he sent me a sample and as soon as I put it on her body she said, “Doc, I don’t know what that is but somehow just that touching my body makes me feel better.” 

Sure enough, in testing her using Nutrition Response Testing, she tested for it and she tested for 6 a day. Which meant 2 tablets, three times a day. That’s how we dose it.

So she was already on a program for her pancreas because that’s what we call her “priority organ” and she was also on some digestive enzymes.

So, I tested her in the afternoon. She took 2 of those Glyc-Aide at dinner time. Diabetic neuropathy went away within an hour after dinner and she could put covers on her feet that night, for the first time in years. 

The long and short of it is one year later she went from 360 pounds to 220 pounds.  She no longer had to take blood pressure medicine, statin drugs, or oral insulin.

She was married to some guy, divorced him, found a new boyfriend because she lost all that weight, and then moved out of town! The new boyfriend took her away from my practice!!  I have kept in contact with her throughout the years and now she is down to about 180 pounds. That was just using Nutrition Response Testing standard protocols.
